Interior Design on a Budget: Four Easy Projects
Not everyone is in a position to do a total home makeover. So if your home is feeling a little tired and dated, and you’re working with a budget, I have four projects that can update your space.
New Paint. Okay, I may be using “easy” a bit loosely here as people have been known to break out in hives when choosing a paint color. But a fresh coat of paint is one of the best ways to add some new life to your home. And here’s some good news: you don’t have to paint your entire home purple. If you prefer a more neutral palette, go with that and add a pop of color to an accent wall. Colorful accessories are also a great way to add some zing to more neutral tones.
Hardware. Now this really is an easy one to tackle. When was the last time you replaced drawer pulls, doorknobs, and handles? Take a look around your kitchen. If you have brass pulls and handles, why not try nickel? Or vice versa? There are so many interesting and unique options out there.
Light Fixtures. How long has that light fixture been in your entry? Did your home come with basic fixtures? I love using a variety of light fixtures, including recessed lighting, floor lamps, table lamps and chandeliers. This may be one of the cost-effective ways you can update any room in your home.
Artwork. Besides choosing a paint color, this may be right near the top when it comes to intimidation factor. But I can tell you that adding a piece of art can really impact a room. And here’s the trick: you can choose anything that speaks to you. How much did it cost? Where did you get it? What do others think of it? Honestly, if it’s something you love, those other questions really don’t matter.
These are just a few ideas to help update your home without breaking the bank. And please remember, I am always here to help – whether it’s for one hour or a large project.
